Cam Boyd

Cam Boyd

I moved to Steamboat in 1985 after graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder. I am a Realtor and started in business in Steamboat in 1987. I was a founding owner of Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty in 2000. My partner and I completed a sale of the company in 2021 and now I am a Realtor under the same company and I’m the leader of the Boyd & Berend Group.

I’ve been involved in hockey my whole life having started playing when I was 7 years old and playing competitively through college on the CU Club Hockey Team where I was also an assistant manager at the ice rink. I’ve been involved in the Steamboat Springs Hockey Program ever since I moved here when the rink was outdoors and I saw the need for a better facility. I participated in the Roof the Rink campaign in the 90’s that ultimately built the wonderful arena we have today. During that time, I also served on the Steamboat Springs Parks and Rec Commission for 6 years when we also built the Core Trail among other great recreational improvements. I coached the high school hockey team in its beginning stages and helped it grow in popularity until it reached the point that they needed a full-time coach. I then coached mites and squirts when my son was in the program from 2005-2009 and started coaching the squirt program again in 2019. I have continued coaching that age group and this past season helped in coaching the U-12 B Team. In the early 90’s I ran adult hockey tournaments called the Steamboat Labatt’s Cup Invitational and for many years helped run the men’s travel team called the Steamboat Utes playing teams from the front range and other resort communities. I’ve played in spring, summer, fall and winter adult leagues in Steamboat for 37 years and I can honestly say that I have played on more teams in Steamboat than any other person.

For the past two years, I have been a member of the SSYHA Board and I wish to continue serving on the board and hope to add additional value to the program.

Jeff Rodriguez

Jeff Rodriguez

My name is Jeff Rodriguez and I am grateful for the opportunity to be considered for a position on the SSYHA Board. My family and I moved to Steamboat in July 2020 and while Steamboat has been our home for only a few years, we have already grown to love this town and its community. I believe that joining the SSYHA board would be a great way to increase my involvement in both the program and community.

A little about myself. My wife Stephanie and I married in 2012 and we have two children. Our daughter Danica (10) played for the U10 Girls this past season and had an amazing run winning the state championship. Our son Blake (8) just finished his 3rd season playing Mites and is looking forward to moving up to squirts next season. Over the past four seasons I have had the pleasure of coaching both of our children. While I did not grow up playing hockey, I instantly found a love for the game playing as a young adult and still play in the adult rec leagues today. In my youth I played competitive baseball and club soccer at the highest levels. Some of my best youth memories include traveling around the country with my teammates and playing tournaments in Europe.

What do I bring to the SSYHA Board? Currently, I am the president of a small sales company and this leadership experience has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to drive organizational growth and ensure sound financial stewardship for long-term success.

In summary, hockey is my passion and I can think of no better way to give back to the sport and community than by representing SSYHA. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the development and success of the youth hockey in Steamboat. Thank you once again for your time and considering my application.

Jen Spelshaus

Jen Spelshaus

As a North Dakota native and graduate of University of North Dakota, I grew up surrounded by hockey. When my family and I moved to Steamboat in 2016, we jumped right into the hockey program here. Today, my daughter, Gracie, plays for 12U girls and my son, Austin, plays on the Mites team. My husband, Steve, coaches both of our kids' teams and also plays in the Men’s league. We’re an active hockey family who loves spending time at the rink cheering each other on.

I work for U.S. Bank in Human Resources on our Compensation team, often managing company-wide projects and initiatives for more than 70,000 employees. I’m excited to bring my professional background to further strengthen the SSYHA. I love volunteering at school along with coaching youth sports, including soccer and basketball. I also enjoy golfing, fishing and skiing and am a proud participant in D league softball each summer.

I genuinely love this program and this club and I want to make it the best program for our athletes. As a board member, I would work with all of you to increase transparency and communication with players, parents and coaches. I'd like us use the end-of-year survey to determine the best aspects to continue as we are today and make incremental changes as needed.

This hockey program plays a daily role in our lives and means so much to my family and me. Growing up, there was nothing better than playing team sports, and I love that my kids have the same opportunity in this community. Thank you in advance for your consideration to elect me to the SSYHA Board of Directors.

Kerry Shea

Kerry Shea

I have been involved with youth hockey from player to coach, from Zamboni driver to board member for the past four decades. Growing up in Michigan, I had the fortune of playing recreationally and competitively up through AAA and junior programs while enjoying time on the pond with friends every winter as all positive, life-changing experiences. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching at all levels, both male and female, and currently certificated as a Level 4 coach. My tenure with SSYHA dates back to 2007 coaching 14U’s, the high school team and has grown ever since as I strive to give back to an organization and sport that has provided me so much. I coached 8U’s from 2013-2015, started the successful Introduction to Hockey program in partnership with the SSSD and the City of Steamboat and Co-Founded/Co-Chaired the Steamboat Hockey Classic that welcomed NHL Alumni to Steamboat, celebrated the great heritage of the game and raising over $100,000 in support and benefit to SSYHA for future growth and development. I joined the board in 2016 as Director of Development, then elected to the board in 2018 and reelected for two additional terms as your Board President. In addition to my local commitment, I also currently reside as the VP for Growth and Development for CAHA (Colorado Amateur Hockey Association). I have two wonderful daughters who have grown up in Stampede sweaters and have a love for the game that far exceeds their fathers. I’d be honored to continue to serve on the SSYHA board in continuing efforts to expand and enhance the opportunities and experience for youth in our community.
