SSYHA has opened registration for the 2008-09 Hockey Season. Register before July 15, 2008 to receive a $100 discount on the regular fee. A late registration fee of $100 will be added to the regular fee for all registrations received after August 15, 2008. Flexxcoach.com will be coming to Steamboat Springs this summer and they will be bringing with them one of the top hockey training camps in the US. Professional and college coaches, including Barry Smith of the Detroit RedWings, Mike Sullivan of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jim Johnson of P.F. Chang's Midget AAA and Keith Blase, a former US National Team Coach are among the coaches scheduled to appear. The camp will run from July 7-11 and the cost is $285. This summer, SSYHA will be conducting summer skill development sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:45am until 11:45am. The cost of the session is $10 per skater, per session; or a season pass can be purchased for $80 dollars (10 sessions).

The deadline to register for the Shannon Miller Girls Hockey camp is rapidly approaching. In order to guarantee that the camp will go on as planned, more girls are needed to sign up. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Steve Ivers. Steve has been a loyal SSYHA parent for many years and was extremely involved in youth sports in Craig as a coach and official. Steve had been battling cancer now for some time and passed away on May 11, 2008. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Ivers family can do so at either First National of Steamboat at 700 S. Lincoln or in Craig, at the Moffatt County National Bank at 435 Mack Ln.

This will be an exciting program for girls to learn the game together-no checking, no boys.
